St. John's is an Evangelical Lutheran Church located in northeastern Pennsylvania. We welcome all to join us in worship every Sunday and participate in our community activities and events. Our Purpose

Our sense of what God is calling us to be and do in the mission of the church.
God's purpose for our congregation is to be a Christ-centered community, glorifying God and sharing the gospel and blessings with our neighbors.

Our Guiding Principles

The things to which we will hold ourselves accountable in all circumstances.
  • We proclaim Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
  • We recognize that Baptism is our entrance to our life with Christ; remembering our Baptism, we always strive to forgive others as God forgives us.
  • We recognize our neighbors as all people who God places within our reach or influence as we boldly share God's grace and blessings.
  • We seek guidance from our God by embracing the Holy Spirit working through us and encourage every believer to use his or her spiritual gifts for God's service.
  • We often gather in His name to offer prayer and praise, worshiping at least weekly around Word and Sacrament.

About St. John's

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church is located in the town of Saint Johns, in Butler Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. We are not far from the intersection of Interstates 80 and 81. We are north of Hazleton, south of Wilkes-Barre, located on Saint Johns Road, 3 miles west of Route 309, and 3.5 miles east of Route 93. St. John's is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the ELCA's Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, the Synod's Hazleton-Lehighton Mission District, and the District's Hazleton Area cluster. We welcome everyone from the St. Johns, Drums, Hazleton, Mountain Top and surrounding areas.Through these partnerships, we are involved in ministry locally and around the world.
